We have seen how the first
man was born (The first birth of man). If he must be born again, then that means he is already dead.
How did he die?
And what does it mean for
man to be dead?
Since Nicodemus could not
understand how a man can be talking and moving about and be termed dead (John 3:4).
How can Jesus say a man
who is talking need to be born again? What does it mean for a man to be spiritually dead?
THE FIRST DEATH OF MAN
The first death of man is
the loss of the Spirit of God that gave him live. When man lost the Spirit of
God, he was dead because he lost contact with God; his life giving and
sustaining source. His life source was cut off.
The first death of man is the loss of the Spirit of God
Man was born by the entrance of the Spirit of God into
a mass of molded dust (And
the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his
nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. – Genesis 2:7).
When the Spirit of God got into the pile of sculpt earth, live got into it and
both his soul and flesh were born.
After man was born, God
said to him, you can live as long as you don’t eat of the tree of the knowledge
of good and evil. That was ticket to eternal life.
And
the LORD God commanded the man, saying, of every tree of the garden thou mayest
freely eat:
But
of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shall not eat of it: for in
the day that thou eastest thereof thou shall surely die.
Genesis 2:16-17.
God gave man the ticket to
eternal life and eternal death. What he does with the ticket will determine
where he ends up.
Genesis
3:6-7, made us to understand that man choose to travel to
the land of death with the ticket he was given.
When he took of the tree
of the knowledge of good and evil the Spirit of God that gave him life left
him.
His spiritual eyes went
blind. His focus shifted from spiritual things to physical things. He couldn’t
access the mind of God any longer. He was dead to the things of the spirit and
therefore could no longer see them. The life giving force of God (The Spirit)
in man was gone.
The Spirit of God is the link
through which man gain access to the things of God.
But
as it is written, eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into
the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
But
God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, ye, the deep things of God.
1st Corinthians
2:9-10.
Adam was denied access to
the deep things of God, because he had lost the Spirit of God that reveals them
to man. Loosing of the Spirit of God is losing access to the mind of God which
contains all things. It is losing the nature of God which helps man do things
the ways God does.
The scripture made us to
understand that,
For
by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth,
visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or
principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
And
he is before all things, and by him all things consist
Colossians 1:16-17.
All things made or yet to
be made consist in God. Trying to access them without the mind of God is a
difficult task. The best man can get at without the Spirit of God that accesses
the things of God is an inferior of what is in store for him. This we can find
from the solution that Adam proffered to the first problem that he was
confronted with after losing the Spirit of God.
The first assignment Adam
the first man undertook in his fallen state without the Spirit of the God was
abysmal failure. God looked at it and rejected it as a solution.
The scripture made us to
understand that when he saw that he was naked, the best solution he could come
up with was to make a covering out of the leaves of the trees. As we can see in
Genesis 3:7 and the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were
naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
God, who had not
questioned Adam’s decision until now, not only questioned this but rejected it
and got him a more lasting covering.
If God hadn’t intervened
before a month Adam could have sent every tree in the garden looking for covering
because of nakedness. God averted that catastrophe by getting him a more
lasting covering.
Unto
Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed
them.
Genesis 3:21
The death of man took him
from the place of super abundance to a place of limitation. It may interest you
to know that the spiritual in a place of unlimited abundance, while the
physical is a manifestation of the spiritual.
Until it is released from the spiritual, it
cannot find expression in the physical and as such, trying to enrich the
physical without access to the spiritual is a most difficult task (Genesis 1:2-3).
The death of man took him
from the presence of God to the presence of satan. From the kingdom of God to
the kingdom of satan. From the kingdom of light to the kingdom of darkness.
From the place of a son to the place of a servant.
The death of man is the
departure of the Spirit of God in man.
The spirit of God is the
vehicle that conveys man to the kingdom of God, and until it is restored to
man, man will continue to remain in total isolation from his maker. To receive
back the life of God that reconnects one with God the Father, one needs to be
born again.
If you are not yet born
again or you are not sure of your standing with God, this is an opportunity to
reconnect with God and have access to the kingdom of God and its glory.
Say this prayer with me
from the depth of your heart with all sincerity.
PRAYER OF SALVATION
Oh Lord God, I believe with my entire
hearth in your son Jesus Christ. I believe He died for me and You raised Him
from the dead. I believe He is alive today. I confess with my mouth that Jesus
Christ is the Lord of my life from today. Through Him and in His name I have
eternal life.
I am born again. Thank you Lord. I am
now a child of God. Praise God!

right now in the name of Jesus Christ.

lives. The peace of God that passes all understanding dwells in you in the name
of Jesus.
Whatever that has disturbed your peace before
now bows out to the supremacy of the Spirit of God in you in the name of Jesus the
Christ. The Spirit of God that reborn you give you dominion over all things
from now in the name of Jesus.
Every sickness in your
body is destroyed right now in the name of Jesus Christ. The Spirit of God that
gave birth to you revives your body in Jesus name. I declare you made whole in
Jesus name. Amen!
